This course exposes students to the social determinants of health, Healthy People2020, health differences in population groups residing in specific geographiclocations, and understanding the negative impact of health disparities on a nation’seconomy. This course includes the essential role of the nurse at institutions in thecommunity on a national and global level. Through engaging with the community and advocating for the vulnerable populations facing health disparities, students willengage in activities which will influence public policy formation and implementationwith the overarching goal of promoting health equity.
