This course will prepare students for the role of the nurse educator in the academic,healthcare institution, community, and other education service settings. Students willbecome familiar with the varied roles of the nurse educator in each of these settingsand will have the opportunity to explore the educator role of their choice. The corecompetencies of the nurse educator role as defined by American Association ofColleges of Nursing Essentials of Master’s Education in Nursing, the National League for Nursing Scope of Practices for Academic Nurse Educators, American Nurses Association Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice Standards, and theAssociation for Nursing Professional Development Scope of Practice Standards willbe used as a foundation for the course.
